   What do i do wrong when converting a downloaded film to dvd?
   I am using vso convertx to dvd, i have had this problem for a while so i bought a new dual layered dvd burner and although the copy of the film is perfect when i play it on my pc, when i burn to a disk the film jumps every few seconds, i have tried playing the disk on other dvd players but the same jumps happen, i also upgraded the vso program to a newer one but no difference, what am i doing wrong?

   How do I export an animation short to DVD or film?
   Hi. I’m planning to do an animation short next year. I’ll be doing it mostly in my computer using Creatoon and Pencil. But I don’t know what’s the screen size and the resolution to be used in order to export the animation to film or dvd. What is the best resolution and the size of the screen – in DPI, to be used to export my animation?

   • ANSWER:
     If you’re creating an animation entirely on the computer you should be working in PPI (pixels per inch), not dpi.

     The resolution you work at should depend on where and how the animation will be displayed. If your film is only going to be shown on the web, you can work at a smaller resolution so it’s easier to download or stream online. If your film is intended for television broadcast, standard television definition is 720 X 540. If you plan to put it onto dvd, you’ll have to keep in mind that many people have Plasma or LCD HDTV’s, which most work a resolution of 1280 X 720p. Considering that it can take years to finish a 1 1/2 – 2 hour film you need to plan ahead and realize that TV’s will probably be running at a resolution of 1920 x 1080p (there are already some high end HDTV’s that run at 1920 X 1080i). If you intend to transfer your animation to actual film stock to be projected in a theater, then you need to work at even higher resolutions. Film doesn’t work with pixels, it captures images through a chemical reaction. However, the pixel resolution potential of film is equal to roughly 12 million pixels. It’s why such a tiny image on a film strip can have light shown through it and be blown up and onto huge theatre screens. So if you intend to eventually transfer your work to 35mm film, you’ll probably want to work at around 4K (4096 pixels wide).

     Even though it feels awesome to think about working with a large hi-def resolutions, you have to keep in mind that the bigger the resolution, the heavier your image files and animation are going to be, the more hard drive storage space you’ll need and more RAM memory usage and strain will be placed on your computer. Making sure that your computer will be able to handle the workload is important, otherwise you’ll be stalled by your own equipment’s limitations.

   Hello, I have a 2nd generation Ipod Touch. I would like to upload a few cartoons and dvd films onto it.
   My daughter loves to watch it and since she is in hospital right now it would be even more useful. I can download films onto it from Youtube, but I am not able to convert original DVDs to be readable on my Ipod Touch.

    Just joined an online DVD rental service, and I need some decent DVD’s to add to my rental list. I prefer comedies, especially parodies.     How to save a dvd film onto laptop?
    I’ve just joined a dvd rental club and want to be able to save the films onto my laptop before I have to send the dvd back, is there anyway that this is possible?

      Rip using DVDDecrypter (or DVDFab HD Decrypter) using full mode.

      The files will be stored in a folder> name of movie/VIDEO_TS.

      When a movie is ripped it is not ripped to a single file (unless you rip to ISO mode). If you are having burn problems it is most likely that you are trying to burn more than 4.3Gb to a disk. Single-sided DVDs only hold 4.3Gb of movie files. Most DVD movies you buy are more than this.

      Use DVDShrink to reduce the size of the files to the 4.3Gb maximum for a single sided disk. Store the files in a folder where you can find them again.

      Use Nero or whatever to burn a DVD movie (you can do this through DVDShrink too) but I prefer a three step process.

      you need a software to rip the dvd, and then you need a software to burn the new dvd, otherwise the new dvd will only play in a computer.

14. QUESTION:
    How long should it take to burn a film to dvd using nero vision?
    The film is 1 hour 20 minutes long and that’s how long it seems to be taking to burn it to the dvd. Is that normal? I have a pretty decent computer with athlon processor and 1024 ram. Is there any other quicker software.
    I’m using trial version btw.
    how do i find out my speed, i.e. whether its 1x, 4x, 8x, etc

    • ANSWER:
      Could be an hour…. maybe 20 minutes… It depends more on the Media and BURNER and not the other hardware.

      Consider a faster DVD Burner and faster DVD-R media.

      Here’s the thing though. When you use a SLOWER burn setting when making a DVD-R, that movie will play more reliably on other DVD players. If I don’t set it back to a 4X burn, it won’t play on my really old DVD player that is connected to the other TV set.

      If you DO get faster media and a faster DVD burner, you can still set it back…. but maybe it would work just fine at 8X. Some testing of Burners and DVD Media might be needed to get the best results.

      Personally, I don’t sit there to watch. When I am done with my computer for a while… I burn a DVD. If you are in the Video business… you simply need more computers and a network to move data quickly from a production computer to a BURNING computer. But don’t burn through the network… COPY the data first to that local drive.

      You need to look carefully at your DVD bay. Does it say DVD burner? This is an easy thing to overlook. Even if you have two bays, on is CD and the other may be just a player, but not a burner. You can buy one (I like the HP) and install it yourself. They are about . and they charge that to install it.

      Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

    I have an apple laptop and would like to start compiling family photos and short videos on to DVD’s. I would like them to be very creative with a professional touch.     How to save a movie maker film onto DVD?
    How do I save my film thing onto a DVD so i can put it in the dvd player and watch it on the tv…

    and for some reason it wont let me save it to the CD, even tho i have done it before.

      Movie maker saves into a Windows-owned type of “file format”, which is the 3 letters after the last “.” when You look at Your folders of stuff.

      It saves into either a “[filename].asf” or “[filename].wmv” file. these are not the filetypes that a DVD player looks for on a movie disc though, so what you need is a program to convert the file you made into the files that a DVD player DOES look for on a disc to show a movie on Your TV set.

      Just for the record, and to not get into ALL the complicated tech-babble … There are several files that are on a movie DVD for TV players. Some are “[filename].vob”, “[filename].ifo”, and “[filename].bup”. The converter program (there are hundreds available) You pick to use will be able to translate one filetype to the many needed and split the info into the right size pieces for the DVD player.

      Keep in mind that there really are completely free programs to do it with, since You’ll oprobably look through hrs of stuff unless You ask for some of the best ones here too. There should be plenty of Answers for that question already available here.

      I’ve gotten very good results by doing it myself. Project it on a screen and record it with a good camcorder. I have then edited them, added sound effects, visual effects, captions, etc.

      Wioth the low cost of camcorders today, it might turn out to be cheaper.

      you have to get a special software to do that, there are many of them out there, you have to search for them by using a search engine. Trust me you will find alot of programs for doing that.

      ‘Rituelen’ is translated into ‘Rituals’ so you might have a bit better luck with Googling that movie name, it was from 1989 if that helps also.

      The basic term for the equipment is Telecine (tella-see-nee). It consists of an enclosed film projector and a video pickup sensor. Since (in the US) film runs at 24 frames per second, and video is 30 frames per second, a shutter is used in the projector runs at 5x per frame. The resultant image is then 120 frames per second, and the video sensor picks it up at 4x per frame. That nearly eliminates the old-time flicker like you saw in old, ancient movies.

      Telecine rarely cleans up the film. GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) is the ruling format. Electronically, there are things that can be done to hide, or minimize, the garbage, such as artificial sharpening, color enhancement, etc. And that’s the best you’ll find at standard film/VHS to DVD transfer companies. They’re in the transfer business, not the re-mastering business.

      For re-mastering, it’s so much an intensive, expensive process, you’d really need to talk with a production studio such as Sony, Warner Bros, etc to find out what equipment they use. Most likely, it’s highly computer-intensive to review each individual frame and essentially recreate it all over again.

      download any rmvb compresser and compress the video
      and then write dvd as data disc

      If you have a disc drive that burns DVDs and Vista then you should have Windows Movie Maker already installed. Go to the start menu and type in Windows Movie Maker to see if it is installed. It pretty much walks you through what you need to do. If your not sure about something just use windows help either in Movie Maker or your start menu.

      It is meant for backing up DVDs you already own, which is not illegal.

    How can I split the audio from the visual on a dvd film once burnt onto a computer?
    Im trying to learn lines from a plat thats on a DVD, I cant find an audio version of the play and thought that I would be able to get just the audio of the play and put it onto my MP3 and learn it that way, is it possible?
    I have copied the film onto my laptop, and there are two files; an audio and visual, in theory I could copy just the audio but to be mean it doesnt work like that!! Is it actually possible or have I invented something in my head? Help please!!

      The film only burns to dvd disc’s not the pc. Xilsoft is a dvd audio ripper you can download the trial version but it only rips the first 5min of the dvd, or you could try limewire to download the full version.
