    Really look at the quality and kind of movies coming out this summer. More sequels/remakes of Harry Potter, the Hangover, Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, and X-Men (like we really need it, and as if we didn’t get the point the first time around).

    The buzz is that Green Lantern and Thor look like the blockbuster, but are filled with WAY too much CGI to even be belivable, and I’m just talking about the trailers. What’s that mean for the movie?

    Then there is a remake of a Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, which they are now calling Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Why make a remake of a terrible sequel?

    Is this setting up to be the worst summer movie season ever?

      ‘The Host’ is a great Korean monster movie, quite quirky and the mutated river monster is great.

      ‘Hansel & Gretel’ is a great Korean horror based on the fairytale, very surreal and creepy.

      ‘Audition’ is quite a sick (gory) Japanese movie, with a very famous scene “sticky sticky” !

      ‘Three Extremes’ is an Asian horror containing three different stories by three different directors (who are Japanese, Chinese and Korean – covers all bases!)

      ‘Carved’ (also called Slit-Mouthed Woman) is a Japanese horror revolving around a disfigured female ghost who appears to be killing children

      ‘Ichi the Killer’ another Japanese horror based on a manga series. Quite a gory movie.

      ‘Thirst’ a Korean vampire movie. Horror but also a love story.

      Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

    The reason why I ask this is because some people say Hollywood producers are running out of ideas and originality and they keep making unnecessary sequels and that CGI is ruining movies and actors are only in movies because they’re good-looking.     Why is it that when they did a Prince of Persia movie, the guy playing the Prince was White?
    BEFORE you come in talking to me about making a big deal out of race, I am just saying IT IS UNFAIR that White guys get to play the roles which should be taken by minorities while Hollywood won’t let a minority play the role of superhero.

    I find it unfair that we are in 2011 and STILL HOLLYWOOD is doing its best to try and put White guys ahead and portray them as holier and better than everyone. When will Hollywood stop putting White guys on a pedestal?

      Of course it’s not the first time whites were cast in the role of other races. Notably, during the era of westerns, whites routinely played the parts of the original native inhabitants of this country. Especially if this involved a starring role. Rochelle Hudson played the part of an 18 year old African American in 1934. Here we are in 2011 having the same issues. The answer to your last question about Hollywood putting white actors on a pedestal is: whenever it ceases to be profitable.

    Looking for advice on trip to Hollywood/Anaheim/San Diego?
    We will be heading out to the D23 convention in August of 2011. Yes, I like to plan ahead. I’d like to take in some sights in LA, specifically the typical Hollywood stuff, studios, etc. No real interest in movie star homes, more like the Chinese Theater, etc. I only want to do 1-2 days in LA at most. What tours would you recommend to a family of 3 with a small child?
    Next we will go to Anaheim for the D23 convention. We plan to attend all 3 days of the convention and take a couple days to do Disneyland and California Adventure. How much time do we need to allow to comfortable see all of both parks?
    Lastly, we will drive from Anaheim to San Diego. I primarily want to see the San Diego zoo. How many days should we be in San Diego and what else is there to explore out there?
    I’m not familiar with Cali at all, so any advice is appreciated!

      I’m usually my friends and family’s tour guide when the visit LA so I don’t know of any tours to recommend.
      Since you’re going during the summer be prepared for lots of crowds and lots of traffic. It’s also pretty warm and there will be a brown cloud over LA.
      3-4 days for Disney/Cal Adventure because of the crowds.
      While you’re in San Diego be sure to check out Balboa Park which the zoo is part of. It’s a collection of museums, gardens, performing arts centers, wonderful architecture and great views of the ocean. The zoo itself will take almost a full day. San Diego’s beaches are some of the cleanest in So Cal. La Jolla, north of SD has a beautiful beach and very romantic sunsets. Torrey Pines State Beach is also pretty. Some other places to see are the Gas Lamp District, Sea World, Legoland and Old Town San Diego.

    Can you get a birthmark tattoo on your face?
    So, I got a little bruise on my cheek last week, and I kind of fell in love with it!

    I guess I am a goodlooking chick. but that little dot on my face added a certain je ne sais quoi on me and all of a sudden I was looking like a super glamurous hollywood movie star from the 50s, so classy and elegant!!! Really!

    But now… well, the wound is healing and my baby is going away. making me go back to same old me. but I wonder, oh do I, if I could get my precious back again!

    So I ask you… is it possible to get a little birthmark tattoo on your face?
    (I know it IS possible, but I mean, won’t it get all ugly and weird? I know dark tattoos tend to get a bit blue/green when they get old… I don’t want that…)

    I have read that it can be seriously dangerous to get it on your face and that it can even cause cancer!

    Travelling to Los Angeles April 2011?
    In late march or early april I’m taking a trip to LA with my dad. I do know I am going to Disneyland, Studio City and of course Hollywood. Does anyone know how to find out if there’s movie premieres around(to stand outside and watch)?

    Is it still rainy but warm then? Mandy(from BG5) told me to go to santa monica beach.When should I book the flight/hotel?( im guessing febish?)we’re renting a car) Any other places I should go to? Good restaurants to recommend? Thanks!

      If you go to Santa Montica, go to the pier. And don’t forget to take a walk through Venice. It was warm a few days ago, but it’s cool again and it rained today. Not sure if it will rain again, I don’t check the weather. A lot of concert halls in Hollywood, you could get some tickets now if there’s any bands playing you like; my personal favorite is the Palladium. Can’t name any restaurants- usually when I go out to eat it’s to Taco Bell.

      The above post is probably more helpful. I’ve lived here all my life and I’ve never even been to Universal Studios or a Hollywood premiere.

    Is it time for Hollywood to remake the Wizard of Oz?
    I don’t ask this question for the sake of making a remake, because mainy will agree the original is an ultimate classic, but it was made in 1939 and within that time technology has improved more than anyone could imagine. However, it is the technology aspect that i personally think they should make a modern version, because imagine if ‘they’ used the same technology that was used in Avatar, surely it would be even more mind blowing than Avatar.

    Like i said earlier i don’t think they should make a remake for the sake of it, but if they took there time made it a long term project and used the most up to date technology, surely it could be the greatest film ever made.

    I should also note that the interest in the franchise might increase in 2011 with a new version of the musical opening in London’s west end.

    What do you think? Should a remake be made (and generate a new wave of fans using movie making methods that young people have a connection with) or just let it be and make young people watch a film they have no connection with because it’s no where near of the same quality as they are used to?

    (p.s. I should point out im not a W.o.O fan. I’m just a movie fan)

      No Hollywood does not need to remake WOW! Hollywood needs to stop doing boring retreads and create original films! No more remakes, reboots, or lame attempts at big budget TV show retreads!

    U r also some what right that since last decade no good HORROR movies released (But are wrong in case of SHUTTER & THE GRUDGE), make sure u watch these at night alone in silence, u will not see the ART of horror if u watch such movies with friends who are fooling around till the movie end.

    Watch SHUTTER alone, Start it at 12:00 am at night (Get some sleep of 2 hrs in day before). Close the door of your room and increase some volume of your home theater, U WILL PISS YOUR PANT.

    I am a big fan of Emily Browning. Mainly for her performance in A series of unfortunate events, and also for the fact that she is Australian. I am Australian too!!! I am SO proud of the many Australian actors that are HOLLYWOOD famous, like how Emily is in Sucker Punch, one of the big movie of March 2011, also the guy who acted as Thor in the recent movie Thor (his performance and Natalie Portman’s was just amazing). Also Nicole Kidman. She is one to inspire many. I am a fan of her because of her performance in The Golden compass alongside Dakota Blue Richards.

    I just finished watching the trailer for the 2009 remake of the movie ‘The Uninvited’(Emily Browning). I checked out Rotten Tomatoes, and another site. Thet both stated that the movie is rated PG-13. I found that quite hard to bebelieveThe movie trailer that I watched ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUMohpQf8HY&feature=fvst ) liked amazing, but there were some drawbacks. Me being a person who is afraid of needled and I don’t like drugs and all that illegal stuff. I noticed a small 1 second or so clip of a needle in the trailer, I think it is salled a saringe. Also I noticed a hand with blood or something on it, grab Anne or whatever the name is of the girl played by Emily Browning. Also some other parts quite disturbed me. I am a bit of an adventure seeker. I like many styles of movies. The main ones are: adventure, sci-fi/adventure. Is the movie really rated PG-13? What is it rated in England? What is it’s rating in Australia? Do you think that I will like the movie? Would you recommend it to a yound teenage girl?(keep in mind that I am okay with watching rated M violence, like in ‘The Adventures of Merlin’ Collin Morgan, Badley James, Amelia Fox…).

    I saw that the movie has many good ratings on youtube vids. Should I go see it, or should I see something more age-appropriate?

    Where is the ‘Take Me Home Tonight’ Movie Premiere?
    I’ve checked every website possible (hollywood calendar/ect).

    I founded out that its on March 2, 2011 and that it is in Los Angeles, CA.

      Believe it or not, they may not have actually decided where. Imagine rarely does premieres in LA. That being said, it’s not at Mann’s Chinese or the El Capitan which leaves Arclight Hollywood or the Bruin/Village in Westwood. My money’s on Westwood. The Bruin and the Village are right across the street from each other (a really small street) so whichever one it’s at the setup will be practically the same. Keep checking the seeing-stars site – they will have the info sooner or later.

    Is there any Video rental stores in your area?
    Well its 2011 and it seems I have seen the last of what made my childhood so great. I am only 22 but i remember renting SNES and N64 games from places like Hollywood video aka Movie Gallery , and Blockbuster. As I drive around town now I see Blockbuster stores closing everywhere and Hollywood video has already gone bankrupt and its a depressing feeling. Businesses like Netflix are pretty much screwing the rental stores out of business , we think technology is a good thing but its taking so many things away where there were once jobs there are now empty buildings , so after all that is there any in your area?

      No, and it is very sad. They have gone out of business and are for rent in my area. We have Redbox and Blockbuster Express here:( It was a part of my childhood to. I used to go with my mom and brother to pick out movies, and it so fun going to the kids section and picking out stuff. I liked looking at the New Release Wall while going to the Kids Section. I loved looking at the candy and popcorn near the checkout, and dropping the movies in the box when they were due.
