     Netflix DOES take movies down. However ive heard that if enough people put the movie in their instant que they will keep the movie on instant streaming. They take them off of instant streaming if there is not enough intrest in the movie. Hope this helped.

   Netflix was down yesterday, July 17 2011, and I’m curious how long they were down. My best guess is a few hours but I would like a more precise answer.
   I should mention it was working fine on the computer but not on my PS3.

     It was down for a few people on the computer yesterday(I saw a few questions about it), so maybe location had something to do with it. It worked fine for me all day. However, the netflix on my ps3 has been down for a few days now, and I just assumed it was my ps3, glad to know Im not the only one.

    Why can’t I play xboxlive or watch netflix without the internet slowing down?
    I have tested my connection speed on one of the available websites, and it says I am getting 7.8 mbps. From what I understand, that should be way fast enough to stream a netflix movie, or play a video game on xboxlive. I’m not even trying to do them at the same time. Netflix keeps stopping my movies saying my connection has slowed, If I get on the xbox, it says lost connection to host. Not just sometimes, every time! What gives?

    Looks like it just won’t stream to my PS3. It works on my iPhone….so I don’t know….
    Not sure what the problem was, I have streamed to my PS3 every day for quite some time. But, I uninstalled Netflix from my PS3 and then reinstalled it and now it works.

      I didn’t realize blockbuster went bankrupt? Does not necessarily mean they are closing down though.

      It’s difficult to say what the main reason is because the reasons are likely very complicated. Besides netflix there is “on demand” and other various cable television services that enable a person to order movies right from their television sets. Also, movies can be downloaded straight from the internet. Furthermore, you and I don’t have the behind-the-scenes information. There’s no way to really tell what the main reason is and it is probably a combination of many “main” reasons.

      So basically, I don’t think any of you won the bet. There’s no definitive answer.

    Is netflix down for anyone else?
    it is loading for me but not completley. I dont know what is happening, everything else is working just fine. I cleared the cache, browsing history, temp internet files, all that and it still doesn’t work.

      They are having “technical” difficulties. They won’t say what they are. They claim they will be up again soon.
      Their stock has fallen to its lowest point in 2 years because of decreased income and then this website failure.

      I have not tested it because i don’t have an account but have you tried RealPlayer? (free version) That has a video downloader and can cut the downloaded videos into clips. I know it certainly works on YouTube.

    I have been trying to log on to Netflix Canada for a few hours now, but each time I do I get an error message like this:

    Proxy Error
    The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
    The proxy server could not handle the request GET /Default.

    Reason: Error reading from remote server

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    What does this mean? Will it be fixed soon?

    Did your Netflix turn-times slow down after your free trial concluded?
    During my free trial, my turnaround times were very short. I would get movies on Monday, drop them by the post office on Tuesday, and have my next shipment on Thursday. It was like clockwork. Now that my trial is up and they have charged me, it is taking an extra day. If this is the way it’s going to be from now on I’m going to cancel. Just want to see if my experience is common or unique.

      No problems at all. In fact if I drop a movie in the mail on Monday, I get my next one on Wednesday! You may experience an extra day if you are mailing later in the day or at the end of the week. Their shipping is much quicker than Blockbuster though.

    Does anyone know if the sony network being down directly effects streaming netflix to your sony TV.?
    I am using a Sony Bravia connected to my home network. I was able to register the device with netflix but I am getting a reference code 300 error “The service can not be accessed at this time”. Other services such as pandora, youtube and the internet browser are working fine.

      The Sony play station network problems have nothing at all to do with streaming netflex to a Sony TV.
